Reflection paper
Here is my reflection paper for my memory book :)
Going into my junior year of high school I expected the worst. Bad teachers, bad tests, bad grades, horrible school food and no time for a social life. Now that my junior year is coming to an end I realize that I was correct in about half of my predictions. The school food sucked just as much as every year prior. The teachers were average and my grades stayed fairly constant throughout the year I will admit there is a lot more work and the classes are a bit harder junior year but I managed to pull through while still maintaining time for a social life.
The social aspect of junior year was better than ever before. As a student your social experiences progressively grow to become memories that will last a lifetime. School dances football games and pep rallies all became the focus of my junior year. As soon as the year began I was busy preparing for and looking forward to football games. I love the energy and excitement of the crowd and all the friends that surround me in the stands. Pep rallies also got us all revved up for games. Another part of my social life this school year was the dances. Homecoming, Sadie and Prom were all an awesome time with friends. My favorite part of the dances was getting ready before hand with my best friend and all the craziness that follows them. Almost all the school events were great experiences and are what helped shape my junior year.
My family also made a huge impact on my junior year, without the constant support and love of my family I do not know how I would have pulled through this year alive. One highlight of this year was the trip to Miami I got the opportunity to go on with my dad. It was an incredible break from my day to day routine. We headed out on a Thursday and came back Sunday evening. I got to relax lying out on south beach surrounded in white sand, clear water and hot shirtless guys. Exactly what I needed. In addition to the gorgeous beaches (and picture perfect guys of course) I got the privilege to attend the grand opening of the brand new five star hotel we were staying at and all of the parties that goes along with that. Clearly that vacation was a very high point of my spring semester, and provided my dad and I with some bonding time.
Outside of school I remained busier than ever this year. I kept up with figure skating at arctic wolf. I participated in the Christmas and spring show and in numerous competitions in places like Sugarland, along with a few testing sessions here in town.
As the year passed on I feel that even though most of us would like to say that all the work was pointless and that we were right when we said we didn’t need it, I did need it. All the work has helped me prepare myself for the workload up ahead in college and I have learned a lot along the way. I’ve made new friends, strengthened some old friendships and lost a few friends this year, all for a reason. I don’t regret anything so far in high school and hope that next year will be as legit as everyone says it will be.
Although I feel good about this past year and I fell that I’ve learned a lot, I still have unanswered questions brooding in my mind. Questions that I’m sure are brooding in the minds of others as well. Questions like why are some people simply so dumb? Or after all these years do people not understand that lying is not worth it? There’s consequences for everything. These questions may never be answered but that’s one thing I’ll just have to live with I guess. After this long exciting and occasionally rough year I feel more prepared than ever for my final year of high school. I know that much more fun and probably a lot more childish drama is up ahead. I am as ready as I’ll ever be to move on to senior year and then head out on my own for college. Overall this year has had its ups and downs but it all worked out lovely in the end.

Tape and Curl Practice
Here is my practice of the tape and curl effects using photoshop. i found other ways to make the tape that i prefer but this one turned out good too. I really like the curl effect though it turned out great and i will probably use it in my memory book later on.

Personal Project
Here is my final personal project. I used some of the techniques from the retro poster tutorial to create my background using a few different effects in addition to create the background seen below. I used the vintage Polaroid tutorial to create all of the effects on the pictures that i used. i do not have my original pictures here at school on my h drive so i cannot put them on here but i got them from my computer at home when i worked on this at home. I picked a variety of things from this school year to represent things that have happened, places ive been and things that i enjoy doing. in addition i added some simple text but messed with the colors and the layer style to create different effects. i also used some brushes on the background and changed the layer to color dodge. Overall im really happy with how it turned out :)

Guitar Pattern Design
Here is my design pattern. it wasnt too hard to make. the only thing is my guitar circles did not fit together as well as the ones on the tutorial. the tutorial also said to do certain things to the background that just messed mine up and i liked the way this looked better. i also added some smoke behind the guitar instead of what the tutorial had. other than that it all worked out pretty good.

The Window-Movie Poster
Here is my final movie poster. Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out. the hardest part of this assignment was finding a picture that would work with the power ball and placing the actual power ball on the poster. the creation of the poster and the power ball themselves were not hard once i found a picture and background along with good text. Below i have the back ground and original picture of Jake Gyllenhaal along with my power ball that i changed the color of later on in my process of creating this poster.
Above is my background
Here is my picture of Jake Gyllenhaal
And here is my power ball. I changed its color once i moved it onto the poster itself.
