Reflection paper
Here is my reflection paper for my memory book :)
Going into my junior year of high school I expected the worst. Bad teachers, bad tests, bad grades, horrible school food and no time for a social life. Now that my junior year is coming to an end I realize that I was correct in about half of my predictions. The school food sucked just as much as every year prior. The teachers were average and my grades stayed fairly constant throughout the year I will admit there is a lot more work and the classes are a bit harder junior year but I managed to pull through while still maintaining time for a social life.
The social aspect of junior year was better than ever before. As a student your social experiences progressively grow to become memories that will last a lifetime. School dances football games and pep rallies all became the focus of my junior year. As soon as the year began I was busy preparing for and looking forward to football games. I love the energy and excitement of the crowd and all the friends that surround me in the stands. Pep rallies also got us all revved up for games. Another part of my social life this school year was the dances. Homecoming, Sadie and Prom were all an awesome time with friends. My favorite part of the dances was getting ready before hand with my best friend and all the craziness that follows them. Almost all the school events were great experiences and are what helped shape my junior year.
My family also made a huge impact on my junior year, without the constant support and love of my family I do not know how I would have pulled through this year alive. One highlight of this year was the trip to Miami I got the opportunity to go on with my dad. It was an incredible break from my day to day routine. We headed out on a Thursday and came back Sunday evening. I got to relax lying out on south beach surrounded in white sand, clear water and hot shirtless guys. Exactly what I needed. In addition to the gorgeous beaches (and picture perfect guys of course) I got the privilege to attend the grand opening of the brand new five star hotel we were staying at and all of the parties that goes along with that. Clearly that vacation was a very high point of my spring semester, and provided my dad and I with some bonding time.
Outside of school I remained busier than ever this year. I kept up with figure skating at arctic wolf. I participated in the Christmas and spring show and in numerous competitions in places like Sugarland, along with a few testing sessions here in town.
As the year passed on I feel that even though most of us would like to say that all the work was pointless and that we were right when we said we didn’t need it, I did need it. All the work has helped me prepare myself for the workload up ahead in college and I have learned a lot along the way. I’ve made new friends, strengthened some old friendships and lost a few friends this year, all for a reason. I don’t regret anything so far in high school and hope that next year will be as legit as everyone says it will be.
Although I feel good about this past year and I fell that I’ve learned a lot, I still have unanswered questions brooding in my mind. Questions that I’m sure are brooding in the minds of others as well. Questions like why are some people simply so dumb? Or after all these years do people not understand that lying is not worth it? There’s consequences for everything. These questions may never be answered but that’s one thing I’ll just have to live with I guess. After this long exciting and occasionally rough year I feel more prepared than ever for my final year of high school. I know that much more fun and probably a lot more childish drama is up ahead. I am as ready as I’ll ever be to move on to senior year and then head out on my own for college. Overall this year has had its ups and downs but it all worked out lovely in the end.

Personal Project
Here is my final personal project. I used some of the techniques from the retro poster tutorial to create my background using a few different effects in addition to create the background seen below. I used the vintage Polaroid tutorial to create all of the effects on the pictures that i used. i do not have my original pictures here at school on my h drive so i cannot put them on here but i got them from my computer at home when i worked on this at home. I picked a variety of things from this school year to represent things that have happened, places ive been and things that i enjoy doing. in addition i added some simple text but messed with the colors and the layer style to create different effects. i also used some brushes on the background and changed the layer to color dodge. Overall im really happy with how it turned out :)

Guitar Pattern Design
Here is my design pattern. it wasnt too hard to make. the only thing is my guitar circles did not fit together as well as the ones on the tutorial. the tutorial also said to do certain things to the background that just messed mine up and i liked the way this looked better. i also added some smoke behind the guitar instead of what the tutorial had. other than that it all worked out pretty good.

The Window-Movie Poster
Here is my final movie poster. Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out. the hardest part of this assignment was finding a picture that would work with the power ball and placing the actual power ball on the poster. the creation of the poster and the power ball themselves were not hard once i found a picture and background along with good text. Below i have the back ground and original picture of Jake Gyllenhaal along with my power ball that i changed the color of later on in my process of creating this poster.
Above is my background
Here is my picture of Jake Gyllenhaal
And here is my power ball. I changed its color once i moved it onto the poster itself.
Text in Bark of Tree #2
Here is my text carved into the bark of a tree again, i changed the text on this one to something that i could use in my year book thing later on. after i completed the tutorial i realized i was supposed to use text of my choice so i just went back and changed it and it was a very simple change to make. I still dont like the way it looks because i dont feel it turned out quite like the tutorial said it would but I probably just make some small mistake along the way that i didnt realize i made. Anyway now the text is better suited to my own yearbook signing sheet
Text in Bark of Tree
Here is my Tree with text carved into it. I had a hard time following this tutorial. The steps were clear but I felt as if i was missing steps that they just didnt explain or put on there. The actual tree that i carved the text into was not too hard to create but the text itself seems off a bit and doesnt quite match up with the one on the tutorial even though i completed the steps and checked back through them thoroughly to make sure i wasnt missing something.

Retro Poster Final
Here is my final Retro Poster Creation :) it took forever but i think it turned out pretty good. I'm happy with it. I had a hard time blending the baby tiger head onto my body without it looking awkward because of my hair and the tiger's fur but i used the smudge tool to help. the rest of the tutorial was fairly simple and self explanatory.

Makeover Me :)
Below is the original picture that i chose to edit.
and here is the final picture after all the changes were made.
and here is the final picture, with all the changes that were made along with stars next to each change.
Okay so there is a star that is up on my forehead, by my hair and that one is to point out that i changed parts of my hair color, i added sections that were lighter. There is a star next to my eye because i added a little eye make up and also whitened the white part of my eyes and added highlights on my eye, where the light is hitting them. I whitened my teeth and added a light pink-ish tint to my lips which were the two stars by my mouth. There is a star on my neck because i removed a silver necklace that was awkwardly hung off to the side, hidden partially under my hair. The last two changes i made were changing the color of my shorts and changing the color of my nail polish. I made like seven or eight changes to this picture. It was kinda hard to decide what to change that would be noticeable enough but i liked this project! :)

Inner You-Shadow Portrait
Here is my Shadow Portrait thingy. The shadow i chose was the silhouette of a figure skater because i love to figure skate. I had a hard time finding a good background and a silhouette to use that would be recognizable but in the end it turned out ok.

Spot Healing
Here is my original picture. I chose to remove the mole next to the kids nose, kinda above his lip. Below is the final picture. I did this using the spot healing tool.
Cloning
Here is my original picture that i used for cloning. I cloned the bird and put it on there a couple more times in the background. i also changed its size and flipped one of them.

Photo Editing-Content-Aware Fill
Here is a picture that we were given that we were supposed to edit. We had to remove the pole thing behind the sign and the distracting object that is on the ground in the dirt. Using the lasso tools and content-aware fill i was able to remove these. Below is the after picture.

Blur-Vegas
Here is another picture that i messed around with. i was trying to decide which picture to do three different blurs on so i tried out blurs on a couple of pictures before i could decide. I figured i may as well post it!
Here is the before picture:
Here is the after:
There really isnt that much of a difference just a bit of a blur around the edges of the buildings and stuff.
Blur-Vegas Hotel
Here is my original picture. i chose to do my three different blurs on this picture because i really like the colors in this and the blurs looked cooler on this one than the other one.
Here is Blur #1
Blur #2
Blur #3
I used different type of blurring on each of these pictures and i also adjusted the contrast and brightness levels on a couple of them.
